Captain on a lake boat.
I show the following boat assignments for a Charles E. Barnes: Captain, Seattle, 1902; Captain, Kongo, 1905; Captain, Kongo, 1906; Captain, John B. Ketchum II, 1907; and Captain, John B. Ketchum II, 1908. The three boats listed above were operated by H. N. Loud, Au Sable, MI. Lynn's Directory for 1908 shows C. E. Barnes residing in Algonac, MI. Also, I don't know if this is the same individual but I show the following boat assignments for a C. E. Barnes: Captain, W. G. Perry, 1926; Captain, W. G. Perry, 1928; and Captain, W. G. Perry. 1929. The W. G. Perry was operated by Pittsburgh Coal Company of Ohio, Cleveland, Ohio.

Detail : She sprang a leak in gale, her fires were flooded out, and she stranded and broke up. She had been bound Parry Sound for Detroit. The crew made it to Green Isl. in her lifeboat, were later picked up by the Red Rock lightkeeper.
Also ashore with heavy damage near Rondeau, Nov, 1894.
